Where this comes from

Stocked republishes the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's fish stocking records in a form anglers can actually use. Nothing here is guessed; every number links back to an MNRF row.

• Fish Stocking Data for Recreational Purposes: the last ten years, updated by MNRF "as required." We check it nightly. It has the year of each stocking but not the date.

How "worth fishing now" works

Most Ontario stocking is fingerlings and yearlings a few inches long. The good fishing comes three to five years later. For every lake and species we add up the fish stocked in 2021–2023, weighting yearlings and adults fully, fingerlings at 40% and fry at 10%. Lakes over 200 yearling-equivalents make the worth fishing now lists, ranked by that number. It is a relative guide, not a fish count.

What alerts mean

An alert says a record appeared in MNRF data. It does not mean the truck came today. MNRF can publish weeks or months after stocking. For lakes stocked with adult fish for immediate fishing, the record is still the best public signal there is.
